crisp & clean

One of my very favorite clients - a french couple - came to me with a dilemma. How could they take a typical brick ranch and change it into an open airy space with a more modern appeal? Whats more, they had artwork and furniture that was a combination of styles, including a beautiful vintage French country wooden table and chairs and clean lined European leather sofas. They wanted to open up a very cluttered, poorly configured kitchen without expanding beyond the existing kitchen footprint, and they wanted it to feel large. In fact they insisted on an island that would seat 6! Using a combination of a modern cabinet door in a textured, washed-wood-look, with clean modern bar pulls, coffee brown granite, and stainless steel Bosch appliances, a calm clean, kitchen came to life. Custom designed cabinetry compartmentalized tasks and specific items - making the space incredibly streamlined. We even created a 5' furniture piece for the island with 7 drawers laid out to hold things exactly as the clients needed them. A gigantic skylight streams in sunshine, and mimics the large island in size and shape. Not only did this kitchen come out clean and functional, it's comfortable to work in - offering multiple spaces for cooking, baking, or just sitting with a cup of coffee and ones computer...
